Custom Hat Making
Custom hats are made to order using 100% beaver fur felt, 50/50 beaver/European rabbit fur blend, 100% European rabbit fur felt, or 100% Coypu (Nutria) fur felt. These fine fur felts are imported from the United Kingdom, Portugal, Ukrain, and South America. Your hat will be hand-crafted with care, attention to detail, and dedication to traditional hat making practices.
Please indicate your hat size and whether you need a regular oval, long oval, or wide oval. I can help you determine your size and shape during an in-person appontment, or can send you a packet with simple tools that will help during a virtual appointment.
You will be able to choose your hat style and color. Hats will include a calf leather sweatband, silk satin hat liner, and grosgrain ribbon hatband for the crown. Upgraded hatbands and decorative accessories are available for an additional cost per piece. Please see the pricing sheet for additional options and always feel free to submit your special requests.

No deposit is required for a hat repair or restoration since I will hold your hat hostage.
Cleaning, Repairs, and Full Restoration Services
Cleaning includes cleaning the topside and underside of the felt, cleaning or washing the hat liner, adding stiffener as necessary, and reshaping. Repairs includes replacing a sweatband or liner, or repairing a tear. A full restoration includes a full washing or two, repairing holes or tears, blocking, replacing the sweatband, liner, and hat band, stiffening as necessary, and reshaping. The prices for these services varies since it depends on the condition of the hat upon receipt. My rate for labor is $35 per hour + materials such as a new sweatband.

- Gift Certificates are available and encouraged due to the nature of custom work. Full payment for a gift certificate must be made when the certificate is delivered. The gift receiver's order will be placed in the hat making queue upon confirmation of order details or completion of sizing appointment.
- Speciality colors are available, but may take a little longer to acquire from suppliers.
- Turnaround time is currently 3 months.
- Beaver fur felts originate from the Czechoslovakia Republic, South America, and Portugal.
- Rabbit fur felts currently in stock originate from the UK.
- Coypu/Nutria felts currently in stock originate from the U.S. and South America.
